Before we begin, I would like us to have all the necessary material ready. You would need the following to get started.
- Polymer clay
- Highball glass (works as a rolling pin),
- Cap of the bottle (works as clay cutters)
- Clay knife
- Jewelry pliers
- Earring posts and backs
- Jewelry jump rings with open connectors
- Cutting surface
Step by Step Guide
Step 1: Set up your table and lay out a piece of parchment paper. Parchment paper makes it easy for you to roll the clay. Choose your base color. You can choose your base color to be blue and then go ahead to choose three different colors of polymer clay.
Step 2: Roll your base polymer clay out and flatten them as smooth as possible. Take out your three different color polymer clay and roll them into small balls.
Place the three small clay balls on the cutting surface and roll them flat and smooth using the highball glass.
Then take out your clay knife and cut out little chips from the three small clay balls. This will be used to make polka dots on your earing. You can choose any design you want.
Step 3: Take out all the little pieces you cut out from the clay balls and place them on your white base polymer clay you made initially.
Step 4: Take out your highball glass, roll to smoothen the chips on the white base polymer clay to give you the cheetah-like design.
Step 5: Take out the cap of a bottle and press it onto the surface of the polymer clay to make a deep shape for your earring. Be careful not to ruin the polymer clay while cutting.
Using a smaller cap of a bottle, make a deep small circular-shaped clay from the one you made in step 8. Take out your clay knife, cut the shapes out, and remove the excess clay.
Step 6: Take out a needle that came with the clay and open a tiny hole where you can put the jump rings.
Then, take them to the oven and bake for about 350 degrees. All clays are not the same. Be sure to read the manual to know the heat to apply.
Step 7: Now it is time to fix the jewelry jump rings. Use your jewelry plier to widen it a bit and fix them on the earing hole.
Step 8: Use your glue and attach your earring backs.
