You stand in front of the kid’s closet and wonder what outfit it should be today. Their clothes are everywhere and you can no longer see the forest for the trees. It’s like being at the drugstore – all you want to buy is a toothpaste, but with the sheer endless range on offer, you are completely overwhelmed.

The closet could be bursting at the seams and yet every time you stand in front of it, you say to yourself: the kid has nothing to wear! Do you feel the same? It usually turns out you simply lack an organization system in the closet. And that should finally come to an end!

We’ve helped you do the research and rummaged through various guides and products to help you reorganize your kids’ bedroom wardrobe. Today we are going to show you 12 smart top tips and ideas on how to organize your kids’ closet storage.

Label Your Drawers According to Purpose

If you have several closed and non-transparent boxes and lockers, consider putting labels indicating what they contain. When your child is small (and cannot read), you can also draw a picture: a toy car for the vehicle box, for example. Or just take a picture of the content and stick it on each box!

Organizing stickers and labels such as the Easma Dresser Labels can help you organize your kids’ garments, workouts, toys, you name it. There are stickers for socks, dresses, shirts, underwear, shorts, skirts, pants, swimsuits, pajamas, long sleeves, and more.

Use a Tag for storage

Does your child leave his clothes, collect books or wooden toys and scatter them all over his room? Give him boxes or storage crates dedicated to each, to store on a shelf or to slip under the bed! A box for books, a box for wooden toys, etc.

Remember to label the boxes and crates to make it easier for them to find their things. This is an alternative to the idea given earlier.

Accessories can be stored particularly well in small boxes, which are then labeled – so you know at first glance what is kept in it, regardless of whether it is scarves, necklaces, hair ties, belts, etc.

Use a Behind-the-Door Kids Clothes Organizer

Always have it in mind to optimize space as much as possible. You can install tall storage units or even choose a clothes organizer meant to be hanged behind the door.

Store the toys your child uses most often downstairs; put those with which he rarely plays with or use up organizer. Make sure to let him know that you are fully available to give him the toys and items higher in the organizer if he wants to have fun.

Organizers for behind-the-door installation are ideal for smaller items of clothing or accessories (toys, underwear, socks, etc.). Instead of having loose parts flying around in large drawers or the farthest corners, you have everything in view with these pretty organizers.

Use Hangers and Closet Rod Divider Tags

Clothes hangers bring structure. This gives the kids a good overview of their clothes and has them to hand more quickly. The general rule is to hang up dresses and jackets. T-shirts, sweaters, and (jeans) pants are neatly folded in drawers or compartments.

If you have a lot of clothes that can be hanged, it is worth buying thin clothes hangers. With narrow hangers, many more items of clothing find a place in the wardrobe. However, for the kids to quickly have access to the right type of wears, you can decide to differentiate the clothing items using divider tags. These can help you separate the clothes according to the days, sizes, and more.

Keep Clothes That Are Rarely Used Up High

You should come up with a system to keep your closet as tidy and easy to reach as possible.

You can put boxes on top spaces in the wardrobe, keeping clothes that are still too big to be worn or those from other seasons.

Socks, underwear, and tights can be stowed away perfectly in small drawers, while tops and t-shirts are kept in places that are easy to reach.

Your method should be well thought out and organized, this will save you time in the long run in putting things away and helping your kids dress up every day. Are you looking for a fresh pair of socks? Your hand goes automatically to the right drawer and you don’t have to look for it first.

Double Down With the Clothes Hangers

You would like to have a large, walk-in closet, each with a compartment for a wide variety of clothes and accessories. The reality, however, is in a small closet, every space is already taken. With clever hanging storage, you can find additional storage space.

There are, for example, coat hangers on which you can hang clothes on top of each other – this gives you additional space. Also, hanging retainers for accessories such as scarves or ties save space.

Slide Your Storage Out

You can always bring your favorite pieces to the limelight with a storage unit that slides out. This is not only possible with clothes such as scarves but also belts. Asides from better lighting, the scarves and belts will be easily accessed.

The drawer is only built with drawer slides used by furniture makers. When not in use, the drawer is kept in the closet. And when you want to access the hanging items, you can slide them out. This is an idea that you can build by yourself if you are a little bit handy.

Make Use of Shower Rings

In the bathroom, the bedroom, or even in the hallway, you can install shower rings on a hanger. These take care of shower items such as towels or even bedroom blankets. These rings can also be used to hang your beautiful scarves. The hanger can also be placed behind the door if you are short of space or you don’t want it to clutter the space. A do-it-yourself way to have this done is to get some rings, a hanger and then tape them under the hanger.

Always Have a Bin Handy

A kid room without a storage bin is a call for having clothing and play items disorganized everywhere. You should have not just a bin, but several. Dedicate one for the teddy bears, another for your toys, one for the shoes, and so on. A bin handy will be reachable by your kids and will teach them to organize their things. Meanwhile, if you don’t want the items to be reached, just place them high up in the closet.

Days of the Week Closet Organizer

You can store clothes separately according to the days you want them worn. The clothes can be made to go to different closets. For example, you can label each closet by each day and store the wears you want for the day there. This saves you the time of brainstorming what to wear for the day.

Put Laundry on the Door

You can also place a bin-style organizer behind the door. This idea can be recreated by fixing a hoop at the back of the door and hanging a laundry hamper from it. You can use this back-of-the-door storage to keep dirty things temporarily or keep the kids’ underwear or stockings.

Keep Dirty Clothes in a Hamper

A hamper is useful for so many things. It can be used to keep things tidy, keep dirty things, or get the laundry ready to be washed.

Conclusion

We have suggested and explained how you can organize and structure your kids’ wardrobe and closet storage in next to no time. From now on, chaos in the kid’s room is history.
